Bio:Born into a military family, I lived in New York, Washington D.C.,
Virginia, Georgia, Chicago, and Mississippi before 'settling' in
California (Ft. Ord, Seaside, Monterey, Big Sur, San Francisco, Berkeley and
Fremont) with a brief stint in Washington State. I graduated from San
Francisco State majoring in Journalism, started post-graduate work in
business at Golden Gate University, and a certificate program in COBOL at
UC Berkeley extension. I was a park ranger in Big Sur before going to
school full time (the park closed in part due to a 11-day fire), I
stopped the program at GGU because of my involvement in the biggest banking
merger in U.S history at the time (who needed a business class?) and I
was taking the COBOL class so I could move to the technical side of my
company - which I was able to successfully do. I also write (one award
in a nat'l magazine) shoot pictures (one award in a company
competition) ride motorcycles (I was a dirt racer for several years) and ri!
de bicycles (one metric century this year!) I led walking tours in San
Francisco for five years and plan to write a book about hiking in the
city. I was fascinated with audio equipment ever since a neighbor gave
me a Heathkit amplifier when I was a kid. It had a steel chassis and
sported a forest of vacuum tubes. I scavenged a car speaker and patched a
plastic microphone from a discarded Dokoder 3-inch reel-to-reel tape
deck, and broadcast from my bedroom to the back yard.
